Feeling a Vaginal Bulge? It Could Be Prolapse

Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) occurs when the muscles and tissues (i.e., pelvic floor) that support your pelvic organs (like your bladder, uterus or rectum) become overly weak or stretched. This can cause one or more of your organs to fall into the vaginal canal, causing the heaviness or bulge sensation you are experiencing. While this sounds very scary, oftentimes there are ways we can strengthen your pelvic floor to give the support your organs are asking for (without surgery).

What’s Really Causing This?

  • Pregnancy – Increased pressure from the growing baby can overstretch pelvic floor muscles
  • Childbirth – Prolonged pushing, poor mechanics, or tearing can weaken pelvic support
  • Core Weakness – Abdominal surgeries or poor engagement reduce pelvic stability
  • Chronic Straining – Ongoing constipation can lead to excess pressure on pelvic tissues
  • Poor Posture or Breathing – Misalignment and shallow breath affect core coordination
  • High-Impact Activity – Repetitive movement without pressure control strains the pelvic floor

What You Might Be Feeling

  • Heaviness within your pelvic floor
  • Feeling like something is falling out
  • Weird pressure sensation that wasn’t there previously
  • When you sit on the toilet pressure may increase
  • Feeling urgency or like you can’t fully empty your bladder
  • Difficulty with bowel movements
  • Pain with tampon, disc, or cup usage– may not be able to use at all because it falls out

Why This Matters

These symptoms don’t just disrupt your daily routine—they affect your confidence, comfort, and quality of life. Sure there are ways to put a bandaid on the problem, but what if we could actually FIX the problem and give you the confidence back to be active, be intimate with your partner, and not have fear around symptoms worsening? To us, that is life-changing and would be honored to give you that support you deserve.

After having my second baby I knew I wanted to do PT, a friend recommended Sara to me. I went for about 2 1/2 months and feel better than I did before I had any babies! She is super easy to work with and WILL get you results, definitely worth your time!
